Split - Fish Market

The Fish market

Just like Pazar, Peškarija is one of the central points of the city life of Split, but also an interesting architectural monument, built over 120 years ago in Secession style.

It is said that Diocletian chose this area to build his palace because of the natural sulfur springs located here, given he was burdened with rheumatism. The Peškarija was deliberately built next to the sulfur spa, making it a fish market with no flies, one of a kind.
